Climbing the Mountain of Cange

Have you ever had something you wanted to do but avoided trying for fear of failure? Maybe it’s a new hobby, a health change, or a spiritual change. I know that sometimes it can feel like a mountain. I have found that I am the type of woman who can make a mountain out of a molehill. I want to try new hobbies and life changes whether it be health or spiritual and then I make it difficult for myself by thinking I will fail. Where does that fear of failure root itself? If you google something like this, this will show up “The fear of failure, also known as atychiphobia, is an irrational and persistent fear of failing. The fear of failure may also be related to being a perfectionist.” But I want to highlight a few words in there and those are irrational and perfectionist. Rooted in control or rather the lack of control. Sometimes as moms and especially single moms, we are driven by the need to control everything. Maybe because of past things even. Breaking through that need of control can be really hard but I can tell you that when you hand over that control to God you find the strength to start those things that seem like mountains. This project seemed like a mountain and honestly, I kept putting it on the back burner because I thought trying to figure out the technical side of things seemed like more than I could do. The point is if you let the fear, that irrational or perfectionist fear and mindset rule you then you really could be missing out on some of the best blessings. If you look in the bible there are so many people who were afraid, but God never left any of them to figure it out alone. Moses is an amazing example of this, in Exodus 3 Moses comes up with plenty of excuses to not return to Egypt for his people. Lets take a look, Exodus 3:10-14 “Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” We serve the great I AM, we have the power to do these things ladies!
